Happy Financial Literacy Month! I have a love for financial literacy and that is one of the reasons Divas R Frugal was created. I want you to be aware that you can have a great money relationship and make your money work for you. Financial Literacy should be taught starting in Elementary School. So many of us did not learn how money operates and how to handle money until we became adults. At that point we have already had our own view and relationship with money. Take some time this month and read about financial literacy on the web ( ie Money magazine ) or catch an event that will further educate you on how to better your money relationship. I am still declaring my days to be productive and purposeful each day as apart of my morning prayer. My days have been better as a result. Declaring these things out loud keeps me mindful and I am more likely to get at least one thing accomplished that day.
Here is how I did on last month’s goals.
Business:
Periscope-
As I am writing this I am listening to a Periscope broadcast and Maya Elious is talking about taking a leap and stepping out of comfort zone. I started Periscope almost a year ago and completed a week’s worth of Broadcasts. I have been gone so long that I got scared to go broadcast again. A week ago I wrote out different topics I can talk about on Periscope. The plan is to broadcast in MARCH. Maya’s scope is right on time. I will get past this hurdle this month. I am not a pro and I am sure that some of these broadcasts may be ridiculous. However, I am not perfect and I have to start somewhere to get better. Me and Periscope are still not buddies. I did complete one scope. I will challenge myself to at least three scopes this month. In order to get better I have to start! I will have to come up with a strategy to make this work. Pray for me y’all lol.
Finances:
I will continue to put all extra money toward my debt and savings. Although I have not completed any mystery shops in weeks, I have been using money-making apps. Now that I have passed my LMSW test, I need to add more mystery shops.
I have signed up for more mystery shopping companies but I have not found any shops this month worth completing. I am not going to do a shop that takes a lot of time and does not pay any money. I did make an extra $10 using Surveys on the Go. That is a success. I will complete a separate post on Surveys on the Go after I cash out.
Relationship: Get Married
We still have not found a photographer. I have some potentials but nothing yet. We will secure our time and date this week. I AM EXCITED to be moving forward. I am constantly reminded that I do not want a big wedding. This small affair will mean sooo much more. Our honeymoon is set. This month we have to start our premarital classes. We also need to secure a photographer.
We got a photographer !!!!!! I have a couple of small things to take care of and then I think that everything will be done! This is going to be a small intimate wedding and I love it. I cannot wait to see how it all turns out.
Freelancing:
I have been going around and around about all of the services that I want to offer. I like writing and I need to use it to my advantage. I have learned so much about the ins and outs of freelancing and business in general over the last couple of months ( thanks to periscope). I now feel a little more comfortable and understand how to get freelancing jobs.
I like mystery shopping and still plan to keep this side hustle. I will sign up with 4 more mystery shopping companies to open up more opportunities. You are allowed to only work shops every now and then for certain jobs to stay mysterious. Oh and FYI if you see me in a store please do not assume that I am mystery shopping at that time. I may actually be going about my everyday routine with no other intention. That’s why its a mystery.
Send off at least 4 pitches for guest posting. I will not overwhelm myself with this. I have a list of sites that I want to contact already.
I will apply to 3 more mystery job boards to seek additional opportunities.
This did not get done. I think I may place this on the back burner until after the wedding and honeymoon. I do not want to sign up for something and then not be able to do the work. What I can do is do a few sample pitches and send them when I return from my honeymoon.
Reading:
Read at least one book from the work book club and submit a book review by the end of the month. My job has a list of books, movies, articles, and podcasts that I can pick from to write a report on. Some of the books that I reading are not listed on the jobs list. This is a positive incentive opportunity.
I have been reading books but not the books on the list lol. My Job has actually revamped some parts of this program. I can now read any book I want ( it does not have to be on the list) and I can submit the review in various ways to include video. I am going to keep this on my list for the month of April.
I did not do well on my goals last month. I plan to do better this month and at least make some progress on these goals. I will use this wallet size Goal Reminder printable to help me remember my goals while on the go. I use my planner to write all the details. I am always on the go and sometimes I have a ton of things going on. This printable is a small reminder of what I need to focus on for the month. You can place this in your wallet, on the dashboard of your car, or on your bathroom window.
April’s Goals:
My main goal this month is to finish March’s goals.
Reading
Complete Book and Movie Review. This should not be that hard. I have found a free copy of the book in PDF format for free. I have seen the featured movie also.
Finance
I am going to try to find at least two mystery shops to complete. I will have to be diligent in looking at the job boards. Some of the shops are filled quickly.
Business
- Periscope, Periscope, Periscope! I will conquer Periscope this month. I will complete at least 3.
- I will also upload at least 2 more YouTube Video’s this month. I like making YouTube video’s way more than I like Periscope lol.
- I will finish the first draft to an email course this month. I will not go into detail about this but I am excited about it. This is my first time doing something like this.
By reading this I hope that you see that I am not perfect. I love to make goals and set plans but I sometimes miss the mark. If you got all your goals completed last month I am happy for you! If not, you are still in the race! Do not let a few bumps in the road bring you to a complete stop. Slow down, recoup and keep it moving.
